Juneteenth: Honoring Freedom, Strength, and Progress
Juneteenth (June 19) commemorates the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned they were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s a day to reflect, learn, and honor the resilience that continues to shape our communities.
Why Juneteenth Matters
Juneteenth is both a celebration and a call to action—recognizing progress while acknowledging the work still ahead. It’s an opportunity to support one another, strengthen our neighborhoods, and build a future rooted in dignity and opportunity.
Ways to Observe and Support
Learn and share: Read, listen, and talk with family and friends about the history and meaning of Juneteenth.
Support local: Shop and partner with Black-owned businesses and community organizations.
Show up: Attend local events, volunteer, or donate to causes that expand access and opportunity.
